5.5 km. this wine hike connects two famous viennese wine villages: grinzing and nußdorf and is certainly familiar to some wine hikers from vienna. no matter how many times you have done this hike, it is always beautiful. here you really realise the uniqueness of vienna as a metropolis with significant wine-growing. we have also walked this hike many, many times and find that the direction suggested here offers even more beautiful views.
right at the start of the hike, you will come across vines dedicated to prominent personalities from the dalai lama to romy schneider, both nationally and internationally.
when you reach the nussberg, you can see vienna’s skyline with the danube tower to the left and the millennium tower to the right of the danube. in between lies the danube island, framed in the foreground by the viennese vineyards, from which the famous gemischter satz wine is mainly produced. this is certainly one of the most beautiful views in and of vienna.
it is a good idea to enjoy this view for longer with a good glass of viennese wine, as there are wine taverns here and sometimes the local winegrowers also serve directly in the vineyard.
at the end of the hike, you will also find plenty of opportunities in nußdorf to round off your hike in the viennese vineyards in a cosy atmosphere at one of the wine taverns.
